Beechcliffe Buddies

Being a Beechcliffe buddy is an opportunity to become a ‘role model…familiar face…listening ear’ to younger pupils who find it difficult to make new friends or find an activity to carry out over lunchtime. The aim is to provide younger pupils with people who they feel comfortable and confident talking to other than an adult in school.

The buddies run a ‘buddy club’ every Thursday lunchtime where pupils are invited to come and take part in games and other activities with the buddies. The buddies can be identified by the badges they wear. Beechcliffe buddies must take their responsibilities seriously and apply using an application form and sign a contract at the start of their time as a buddy. Pupils really enjoy buddy club and it helps them to build friendships around school not just in their familiar classroom setting.
